The Tri-City Storm left Omaha on Tuesday night still looking for their first-ever win at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, as the Omaha Lancers won 3-1 and moved into first place in the Western Conference.
Tri-City (6-15-0, 12 pts – 8th in Western Conference) got the opening goal in the 1:48 into the second period on RW Tim Lappin’s second goal of the season from C Tim Bonner.
However, Omaha (12-8-2, 26 pts – 1st in Western Conference) would respond with two goals back-to-back in the second period, as C Jimmy Murray would score his fifth goal of the season more than two-minutes after the Storm scored the opening goal. Murray would then set up LW Casey Bailey for his team-leading 12th goal of the season at the 7:40 mark, which gave the Lancers the 2-1 lead.
RW Ken Babinski would add an empty-net goal for the Lancers with 1:12 remaining in the game to assure Omaha a two-goal win.
Storm G Adam Wilcox (8-5-0) made 29 saves on 31 shots in the loss for the Storm, while G Thatcher Demko (3-1-0) finished the game with 33 saves on 34 shots receiving the win for the Lancers.
