Toddler Dies After Being Run-Over by Father's Truck

Fremont Police say a toddler is dead after he was accidentally ran-over by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by his father.
Police say it happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1015 N Pierce St. in Midway Trailer Court.
Authorities say the Avalos family was working outside beside the trailer when Jorge Avalos Jr. wandered into the street and either sat or was standing in front of the truck parked near the trailer.
Police say his father, 37-year-old Jorge Avalos Sr. then got into the truck to leave the trailer court and did not see his son in front of the truck. As he drove forward, Jorge Avalos Jr. was run over by the two passenger side tires of the truck.
When officers arrived on the scene they found 2-year-old Jorge Avalos Jr. suffering from head and internal injuries.
Fremont Fire and Rescue attempted to revive Jorge Avalos Jr. at the scene.
Avalos Jr. was then transported to Fremont Area Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Police are investigating the accident, but no criminal charges are expected. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
