Clinic will Continue to Treat Uninsured Patients - Bonney Bowman Reports
Free Health Clinic Still Needs Funding, Bonney Bowman Reports LIVE
A local free health clinic will keep treating uninsured patients, regardless of what happens with national healthcare legislation.
Pastor Tom Barber, Executive Director of the People's City Mission free clinic, says there has been some confusion since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act.
He says even though more people will be insured under the act, there will still be those without coverage who need access to healthcare.
Barber says the clinic's model of volunteer staff may be a good answer to meeting the healthcare need.
Approximately 40,000 Lancaster County residents are uninsured.
Barber says the free clinic is on track to serve 15,000 patients this year alone.
They rely on donations to keep serving the uninsured.
