Lance's Journal: D-Wayne Is A Master Beatboxer, July 18

Lance's Beatboxing Journal

People have been imitating percussion sounds vocally throughout history. In fact, records show that people in China and India were doing it 2,000 years ago.

Here in America, hip-hop artists like Doug E. Fresh popularized beatboxing in the 1980's.

Four years ago, DeWayne Taylor had just finished up his freshman track season at Lincoln Southwest High School.

He needed a summer hobby and somehow or another, DeWayne discovered beatboxing.

This St. Louis native now makes music with his mouth and after hours and hours of practice throughout high school, this recent graduate is taking his vocal percussion show on the road.

DeWayne has been busy making noise all of his life. And over the past 4 years, he has taken his noise making to a new level, "When you hear something and you love and it just hits something, hits you then you really go for it."

If you'd like to see D-Wayne do his thing on stage, you're in luck.
This talented UNL student-to-be will be working the mic July 19th at the Lincoln Children's Museum.

He will be on stage between 5 and 6pm.

And if you'd like to have D-Wayne perform at your next big event get a hold of him by sending an e-mail to dwbbox@yahoo.com or stlartist@yahoo.com
