Traveling Play Attracts Hundreds of Lincolnites

It's a cross between a traditional play and a tour of Lincoln's historical sites. One theater company is expanding outside of the typical confides of the theater and bringing their show on the road.

For the Colonel Mustard Amateur Attic Theatre Company, the traveling show is a first. The troupe said more than six hundred turned up to see "Gods of the Prairie" on Friday night with another six hundred checking out Saturday's show which started in an open lot near 9th and D streets in Lincoln.

Aaron Chambers who plays "Slackjaw" in the play says it's the first time he's participated in a performance that doubles as a city tour.
Chambers says the actors spent seven months preparing for the show's two day run which was free to the public and lasted more than three hours.

Chambers said that his goal is to provide a unique experience to those attending the non-traditional play. "They should expect to see lots of historic buildings that maybe they haven't seen and let the Capitol become something brand new; something they've never experienced or thought of, " said Chambers.
