Fireworks OK'd for 7 Nebraska Recreation Areas

Posted: 4:45 AM Jul 1, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says fireworks will be allowed at seven state recreation areas on Independence Day.

Visitors should use extra caution with fireworks where extremely dry conditions and high fire hazard exist.

The seven are Branched Oak State Recreation Area near Malcolm, Memphis near Memphis, Fort Kearney near Kearney, Fremont near Fremont, Two Rivers near Venice, Pawnee near Emerald and Wagon Train near Hickman.

Fireworks will be permitted from 8 a.m. until midnight on July 4 only. Signs at the recreation areas will point the way to fireworks sites, and boundaries will be clearly marked. Fireworks approved by the state fire marshal for sale in Nebraska will be the only fireworks permitted.

Use of fireworks elsewhere in state areas or at other times is
forbidden.
