From the Nebraska State Patrol:
Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C Headquarters- Grand Island in conjunction with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a night of special enforcement efforts designed to reduce the potential for alcohol related crashes resulting in serious injury or death.
Beginning in the evening hours on Saturday, August 4 and continuing into the early morning hours on Sunday, August 5, troopers will conduct a DUI checkpoint along with high visibility patrols in and around Hall County.
“Traffic volume increases in the summer as we experience a number of events and activities,” said Captain Chris Kolb, Commander Troop C-Grand Island. “By having an increased presence, we hope to further voluntary compliance with all traffic safety laws. We encourage motorists to join with us in helping to keep our roads safe and accident free.”
A $2,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will help pay for overtime hours used by trooper and communication specialists during the enforcement effort.
