Service Rates Weak Western Nebraska Tornadoes EF0
Posted: 6:41 PM Apr 20, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press
The four tornadoes spotted last weekend in western Nebraska's Lincoln County have been given the weakest rating.
The EF0 rating is given to twisters with wind speeds ranging from 65-to-85 mph.
The four tornadoes were spotted in open spots around the county on Saturday and did no damage.
A twister that touched down Saturday evening near Anselmo in Custer County also was rated EF0.
Overall, about 75 tornadoes touched down in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Oklahoma on Saturday and Sunday. Most struck in Kansas.
In southeast Nebraska, the storms destroyed three homes in Johnson County and damaged fruit orchards in the Nebraska City
area.
Another storm destroyed some grain bins in Harlan County in south-central Nebraska.
