Mayor: Lack of Fatalities a "Blessing"

The mayor of Forney, Texas, says it's "a real blessing" that nobody was killed in the community by the tornadoes that ripped through parts of the Dallas area Tuesday.

One woman who grabbed the three young children in her home and hid in the bathtub says amid the rumbling from the tornado, she didn't even hear the house fall. Sherry Enochs was found holding her grandson in the bathtub, which had blown to where the garage once was. She and the children are OK. Enochs says she doesn't have a clear memory of exactly how things happened.

Of the more than 20 people injured by the twisters, only a few were seriously hurt.

A weather service meteorologist says crews in Forney, east of Dallas, saw damage suggesting that a twister there had wind speeds as high as 165 miles an hour. Other tornadoes in Arlington and Lancaster appeared to be weaker, with wind speeds up to 135 miles an hour.

Randy McKeever, who's been spending the day with his wife and several friends sorting through what's left of his house, says he's finding a lot of items that must have blown in from other homes.
