Warm and Fuzzy T. Rex? New Evidence Surprises
Posted: 9:22 AM Apr 5, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

Movies have long depicted the king of dinosaurs as having scaly skin, but scientists now think it may have had a softer side.

The evidence comes from the discovery of a new tyrannosaur species in northeastern China that lived 60 million years before T. rex.

The fossil had remains of down feathers, making it the largest feathered dinosaur ever found.

Results were reported in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature.

The head of the Dinosaur Institute at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County says people need to start changing their image of T. rex.
