Beryl Weaks to Tropical Depression

Posted: 5:26 PM May 29, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

The National Weather Service is warning of possible flash flooding as Beryl makes its way out to sea.

The former tropical storm Beryl has been downgraded to a tropical depression after losing wind strength, but forecasters says it's still bringing plenty of rain to the Southeast coast. Northern Florida and Georgia could see as much as 10 inches.

Coastal South Carolina could get up to four inches, but forecasters say the risk of flash floods is high because the region has had a relatively dry spring.

The National Hurricane Center says the depression's center is expected to near the South Carolina coast by Wednesday morning, then veer back over the Atlantic where it could regain tropical storm strength.
