Police are investigating an armed robbery from a Lincoln Sun Mart store.
At 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Lincoln Police were called to the Sun Mart store at 1401 West 'O' Street for an armed robbery.
Witness Emily Gordon was at the checkout stand with her stepson and 3-year-old when they heard a loud bang. Emily said it was a man banging on the customer service door. She thought he was an employee who locked his keys inside.
A cashier told Gordon the store was being robbed. Gordon took her children outside and called police.
Gordon said while on the phone with 911, she looked in the window and saw the suspect point a gun at the cashier as he handed over cash.
The suspect stopped next to Gordon after he left the store. He looked at them then ran off to the north before turning west into the alley.
Lincoln Police Captain Morrow said the suspect had entered the store wearing a mask and demanded to know where the money was and was told it was in the customer service area.
Morrow said the clerk could not open the safe and the suspect pointed a gun at him as he demanded cash from the register. An undisclosed amount was taken from the store.
Captain Morrow said the suspect is described as a black man in his 30's about 6' 1" tall and about 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded jacket, jeans, a mask and gloves. He was armed with a handgun.
