A Nebraska woman has received a 6- to 10-year prison sentence for a hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist.

Nichole Heusinkvelt of Martell was sentenced Friday for her role in the September collision. The 24-year-old was convicted of manslaughter in April.

Prosecutors say Heusinkvelt struck and killed motorcyclist Jim Oldfield of Beatrice with her SUV. They say she drove away from the scene on three tires, leaving gouges in the road that investigators followed to her vehicle.

Heusinkvelt declined to speak at her sentencing. At trial, jurors heard a taped interview in which she repeatedly told a deputy that she hit a deer.

The jury acquitted Heusinkvelt on a charge of leaving the scene.
