LPS Associate Superintendent Marilyn Moore Says Good-Bye, Cassie Anderson Reports on 1011 News at 10

A woman whose influence is felt everywhere in the Lincoln Public School system says good-bye.

After a quarter of a century with LPS, Associate Superintendent Marilyn Moore moves on.

"I remember the first day I was a teacher. I remember students I had. I remember people I worked with," Moore said.

Moore spent her last day sharing cinnamon roles and memories with colleges. Accomplishments she's most proud of come down to making LPS better.

"I think one of the things I'm most proud is the people I've been able to hire. Really, really strong leaders, people who have great passion for students and also have the knowledge and skills to turn that passion into efforts that result in higher student achievement," Moore said.

Moore personally hired every principal now at LPS schools. Now she moves to another leadership role, president of BryanLGH College of Health Sciences.

"In a higher education setting, from the way I see it, it's all about teaching and learning, it's all about leadership, so I think I'll be doing many of the things I've done, just in another setting," Moore said.

She takes her passion for education with her, but knows that void will be quickly filled by the passion of her former co-educators.

"They know the work they do effects a child's life throughout the course of a day and so their mission to help kids have the best possible day is one of the strengths in our district. I think my passion is really strong, but I know it's matched by about 7000 other people," Moore said.

For 25 years Moore has watched children grow along with a school system. She knows it's time to go, but knows she's leaving Lincoln's children in good hands.
