Homeowner Discovers Roof on Fire, Firefighters Put it out Quickly

Scene Video: LFR Crews Respond to House Fire

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire at 510 NW 7th Street just before 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Battalion Chief Eric Jones says the homeowner smelled smoke, but didn't think it was his coming from his house. Jones says the man then went outside to check around his neighborhood, but found nothing. When the man went back into his home, he noticed his lights were flickering. The homeowner checked his house one last time to find his roof on fire.

LFR crews were able to contain the the fire quickly.

Battalion Chief Jones says there was little damage to the interior and the family will not need to be relocated.
