More Sleep, Better Grades, Erika Tallan Reports

If you snooze you won't lose.
That's what experts say about students who get a good night's rest.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, children who don't get enough sleep get lower grades, have a harder time paying attention in class, tend to be overweight and show symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder.

Too little sleep also can lead to feelings of depression.
Nancy Bare, a social worker with Lincoln Public Schools says health experts say over the years, they've found kids need a lot more sleep than first thought.

"Little kids 5-year-olds 6-year-olds need 12 hours. And that can go on up to age 10 or more," said Nancy Bare. "They just need an incredible amount of sleep. School has become increasingly more demanding for kids. Greater expectations, and accelerated and its a lot," Bare added.

And experts suggest teens get 9 hours of sleep.
