Lincoln Racer Wins BMX Titles- Bill Steckis reports

She has her eyes on the prize- winning this weekend's Cornhusker BMX National competition.

"Shelby is A 13 year old girl competitor. She is ranked 12th in the nation out of thousands of girls across the country," said Cheri Stanley from the Cornhusker BMX National competition.

Fuller-Larson is one of sixty Nebraskans competing. The rest of the 900 riders who are in Lincoln are from both coasts and most states in between. It's all part of their quest to for points on a road to a national championship.

"What gives me the drive to be so good is, it's a fun sport and I love doing it. One day I want to be in the Olympics," said Fuller-Larson.

Riding for the flag. This sport has only been part of the Olympics for the past two Olympiads but the third one will be in Rio de Janeiro. That's where she would like to find herself competing."

"It would mean a lot. Competing internationally would be really fun. I've never raced against someone from another country," said Fuller-Larson

Winning anything means a lot to this 13 year old. She easily won all of her races this weekend- all against boys. She will race only girls in international competition.

"The boys are way faster than the girls by far but I can keep up with them. It does make me a better rider," said Fuller-Larson

Her journey comes with ups and downs but in four years she plans on being up- on the Olympic medal podium.
