House Works: Stromboli Sandwiches

Sometimes a ham and cheese sandwich or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich just sounds good. But you might be looking for a way to make these classic sandwiches a little more interesting.

In this House Works, Chef Judy joins us in the kitchen with a great idea to do just that.

Stromboli
Chef Judy Gilliard
Servings: 4
1 pound pizza dough
1/2 medium roasted red pepper
4 ounces ham
4 ounces cheese, shredded

Roll pizza dough in a rectangle. Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place ham slices over dough and sprinkle cheese over top. Place the roasted red pepper in and roll down the edge of dough, starting with the edge with the pepper. Roll dough lengthwise and pinch all seems together so seem side down is on the bottom.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Let cool. Wrap with foil or cling wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. Cut in slices to serve.

The nice thing about a stromboli is you can fill it with almost anything. They are easy to eat and you can make them ahead of time. You can make your own pizza dough or purchase it.
