Our Town North Platte: NPCC Classic Car Raffle

There's an exciting Classic Car Raffle taking place in Our Town North Platte.

The people at North Platte Community College affectionately call it the Street Rod Program and it got underway 9 years ago.

It was an innovative idea that created additional funds for students that needed some assistance and it offered automotive students a chance to work with old and new car technology.

Don Wilson is one of the instructors that leads the NPCC students in their annual quest turn an old jalopy into a custom street rod, "I think this is probably one of the best things that ever happened to Mid-Plains Community College as far as recruiting and advertising and just getting out there and letting people know where we're at."

Marcus Garstecki says, "Everywhere we take it we get so many compliments." Garstecki is always impressed with how much money is generated through this program, "Each year we sell between 5,000 and 6,000 tickets and last year for example it raised over $20,000 to go towards students scholarships."

On September 8th at Colonel Cody's Show and Shine the winner will be announced and one lucky participant will drive away in the '62 Nova.
