Cue up Queen's ever-popular "We Are the Champions." The Lincoln East boys soccer team can once again proclaim that message after the Spartans defeated Lincoln High 2-0 to win the LPS City Championship.
Sam Kohler scored the opening goal for East around the 40 minute mark in the first half and then Gabe Garbin, who will play soccer for Creighton next year on a Division I scholarship, scored the winning goal in the 68th minute of the second half to seal the win.
"Feels great. I can't decide how happy I am. After that Southwest game, we knew we had to win every game, so just feels great. We want to go to districts and win that," Garbin commented after the win.
Lincoln East takes the crown for the eighth time in 11 seasons under head coach Jeff Hoham.
