State Track Meet Wraps Up In Omaha

The Kearney boys track and field team claimed its first state title since 2009 Saturday at Burke Stadium. The Bearcats beat out Papillion-Lavista for the Class A team championship. Kearney's Jake Olson edged out the defending gold medal winner in the 800 meter run. The Bearcats also beat Omaha Central to win the 400 meter relay.

Grand Island's Steven Cahoy won the Class A pole vault in his very first year in trying the event.

Lincoln Christian's Levi Gipson picked up a pair of wins in the 400 and 800 meter run.

Fillmore Central won the girls Class C title. Hastings St. Cecilia won the boys crown in Class C.
