Ryan Sheldon dealt eight shutout innings and the Saltdogs (12-15) survived a squirrelly bottom of the ninth to hang on for a 5-2 victory over the Goldeyes (18-7) in front of 7,015 fans at Shaw Park Wednesday afternoon.
Sheldon (3-1) went eight, allowing no runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two to earn the victory.
After a couple walks, a couple hits and an error, Winnipeg scratched two runs across and got the possible tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth inning before P.J. Zocchi struck out David Naradowski looking to end the game and earn his sixth save.
The 'Dogs scored two in the fourth, another in the sixth and two more in the seventh to take a 5-0 lead.
Jared McDonald went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and two RBI. Tommy Collaro went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and A.J. Miller drove in a pair as well.
The victory snapped a season-high three-game skid and helped avoid what would have been their first series sweep of the season.
