Reporter: Associated Press

A former treasurer has been accused of stealing nearly $28,000 from a girls softball association in south-central Nebraska.

Authorities say 47-year-old Vicki Aten is charged with theft from the Kearney Girls Competitive Softball Association, which she served as treasurer for more than three years.

The association runs the girls softball leagues in Kearney.

Aten is free on bond.

A phone listed for Aten is no longer in service. Online court records don't list the name of her attorney.
