Justin Edwards twirled 6 2/3 strong innings to lead the Saltdogs (23-34) to a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes (33-23) at Haymarket Park Tuesday night.

Edwards (3-4) allowed just one run on six hits while striking out three and walking two for the win in his third straight quality start against the Fish.

Asif Shah tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with a mammoth solo home run to right, his third of the season.

Lincoln took the lead on a Stephen Holdren RBI single to right in the sixth, part of a 3-for-4 day for the Saltdogs left fielder.

P.J. Zocchi worked a scoreless ninth with a strikeout to record his 13th save of the season.

Winnipeg opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning on a Jose Duran single to center field.

12 of the 23 wins this season by the Saltdogs have been by a one-run margin.

Shortstop Miguel Chacoa finished 2-for-4 with a double in the win.

The teams meet Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. for the rubber match of the three-game series. Tommy Palica (1-4, 6.75) will pitch for the 'Dogs against Todd Privett (3-3, 4.09) for the Goldeyes.
