Concordia Tops Peru State in Defensively-Minded Game

Concordia University Head Coach Vance Winter returned to the Peru State College Oak Bowl after serving several seasons as an assistant coach for the Bobcats and led his Bulldogs to a season opening win 13-7. The game was dominated by both teams’ defenses before a huge crowd of 1,625.

Concordia scored on their second possession of the ballgame following a recovery of a Bobcat fumble on the ‘Cats first play of the game. Quarterback TJ Shirey (Houston, TX) scrambled for nine yards to score with 9:55 left in the first quarter. The PAT by Kenny Zoeler (Spring, TX) was good.
