Kash Kalkowski is battling the injury bug yet again.
On Wednesday, Nebraska's junior outfielder told 10/11's Thor Tripp that he is out 6-8 weeks with a broken right thumb.
Kalkowski suffered the injury while batting when he was hit by a pitch in his throwing hand on June 25. Kalkowski was batting .319 for the East Texas Pump Jacks up until the injury, and was working on an 11-game hitting streak.
The Big Red outfielder had surgery on his throwing thumb on Friday, but says he will return in time for fall baseball at Nebraska.
Kalkowski used a redshirt for the 2010 season following shoulder surgery, and transitioned to his first full year in the outfield in 2011. Kash hit .299 for the season, with five home runs and 42 runs batted in.
