One of the more intriguing college football matchups this weekend comes in Texas, where SMU visits Texas Tech.

SMU coach June Jones is hoping to take the next step in his revival of the once-dead Mustangs football program after he brought Hawaii to respectability a few years ago.

On Sunday, he will face Texas Tech and its new coach, Tommy Tuberville, who vowed not to ground the Red Raiders when he took over for the fired Mike Leach.

Tuberville is beginning his 15th year as head coach, after stints at Auburn and Mississippi.

Texas Tech has won the past 13 meetings in the series, dating to 1989.
