WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Purdue has dismissed cornerback Sean Collins after he was arrested over the weekend outside a bar on
preliminary charges of public intoxication, resisting arrest and
battery.
Coach Danny Hope had suspended Collins. He said Tuesday that the
serious allegations prompted his decision to dismiss the junior. He
said the school would re-evaluate the situation if the charges
change.
Collins is an Indianapolis native who joined the team as a
walk-on in 2009. He has not played over the last three seasons.
Police said the 21-year-old Collins is accused of hitting a
22-year-old woman, who was treated and released at a hospital. He
was released on $10,000 bond pending a Aug. 20 court appearance.
