KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Royals have activated second baseman
Chris Getz from the 15-day disabled list and optioned second
baseman Johnny Giavotella to Triple-A Omaha.
The Royals made the moves before Tuesday night's game against
Milwaukee.
Getz has been out with bruised ribs since colliding with the
Orioles' Chris Davis. He was placed on the disabled list May 22 and
began a rehab assignment last Thursday.
Getz had been having the best season of his five-year career
before getting hurt, batting .277 with eight RBIs and six stolen
bases.
Giavotella is widely considered the Royals' second baseman of
the future. The 24-year-old was hitting just .217 with six RBIs in
21 games this season.
