The Kansas City Royals selected Sam Selman, a left-handed pitcher from Vanderbilt University with their 2nd round pick of the Major League Baseball Draft.
The junior, went 9-3 this season, for the Commodores, while posting a 3.55 ERA over 76 innings pitched. He started 13 of the 17 games he appeared in and struck out a total of 80 batters while walking only 43.
Selman had been previously selected in the 14th round of the 2009 Draft by the Los Angeles Angels.
Selman is the 2nd pitcher selected by the Royals in this year's draft. KC selected Kyle Zimmer with the 5th overall pick.
