Stony Brook baseball coach Matt Senk's contract has been extended through the 2017 season after leading the Seawolves to their first College World Series appearance.

Senk helped the Seawolves become the first Northeast-based team to reach Omaha since 1986. He has overseen the program's transition to the Division I level in 2000, with 18 winning seasons in 22 years. The Seawolves went 94-27 -- including a program-record 52 games last season -- over the last two years for a .777 winning percentage that ranks first in the country during that span.

Stony Brook won the Coral Gables Regional and Baton Rouge Super Regional in June to earn a spot in the College World Series. The Seawolves also became the second No. 4 seed to advance to the CWS since 1999.
