A former Nebraska man charged with murder in the 1989 death of an Ord woman has filed for a continuance in his case and says he will waive his right to a preliminary hearing.
Since John Oldson waived the hearing the next step is for Valley County prosecutors to file trial information documents, which outline the charges in district court.
Oldson was living in Missouri when he was arrested in January and extradited to Nebraska.
He has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Catherine Beard.
The 31-year-old waitress disappeared in 1989. Her remains were found outside of Ord in 1992.
Oldson is in the Valley County Jail with no bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for April 16.
