BNSF Double Track Project Halted at Capital Avenue Overpass

From the City of Grand Island:

SEMA Construction of Centennial, Colo., has notified the city of Grand Island Public Works Department that work for the construction of the second track at the Capital Avenue overpass has been halted.

SEMA Construction was directed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) to cease work at the overpass.

The work being done is part of the BNSF Railroad double track project.

Both lanes of Capital Avenue at the overpass are scheduled to be reopened the week of March 5.

The signals on Capital Avenue immediately east and west of the overpass will be removed.

SEMA Construction was not able to inform the Public Works Department as to when the construction for the double track project will commence again at the Capital Avenue overpass.
