Firefighters who battled flames consuming a semitrailer at an eastern Nebraska truck stop were worried that the driver was trapped inside the inferno.

York Fire Chief Kevin Stuhr said they were relieved to learn on Wednesday morning that the driver had gone inside the truck stop for a shower and some food.

Stuhr says his firefighters weren't in panic mode, "But we were in a hurry to get that fire knocked down and, if someone was inside, get them out to safety."

No injuries were reported.

A military-type fuel tanker was being hauled on the tractor's trailer. Stuhr says he's sure it was empty.
