Sections 5-601 through 5-607 of the Kearney City Code states that citizens are required to keep property free and clear weeds, and shall not allow any growth of 12 inches or more in height of weeds, grasses, or worthless vegetation.
In the event a property owner fails, neglects, or refuses to cut any grass or weeds within 5 days after receipt of notice, or request a hearing with the City Manager, the City Manager may cause the lawns to be cut and assess the costs against the parcel of real property.
Also, Sections 7-501 through 7-521 of the Kearney City Code states citizens are required to treat, trim, or remove all dead, diseased, damaged, or dangerous branches, limbs, or trees now growing in the public rights-of-way of the City of Kearney.
In the event a property owner fails, neglects or refuses to treat, trim, or remove all dead, diseased, damaged or dangerous branches, limbs, or trees now growing in the public rights-of-way within 10 days after receipt of notice, or request a hearing with the City Manager, the City Manager may cause the refuse, debris, and other obstructions removal for tree removal and assess the costs against the parcel of real property.
