Grand Island leaders have voted against given themselves raises.
Councilman Larry Carney proposed a pay increase from $13,000 to $20,000 for mayor and $6,000 to $10,000 for council.
A lesser raise was proposed, but was rejected.
The council split its vote five to five. Mayor Jay Vavricek broke the tie, voting against the raises.
