Grand Island Public Schools are raising pennies for a great cause!
Some schools are participating in the pennies for patients program, while others are participating in the pennies for pasta.
Either way both are an effort to raise money for kids that are sick with cancer.
Schools taking part say it feels good to teach students the importance of giving back.
"We just want to instil in our preschoolers that its important to help children and other people that are sick and maybe need the extra help to raise the money," said Early Learning Center Teacher Meg Trout.
"It is always good to teach others to care for others and our kids do a great job of that. They are very empathetic," said Walnut Middle School Counselor Jeff Westerby.
In some cases students are bringing in pennies totaling up to $2,000.
