A girl nearly drowned at a Grand Island hotel pool, but was saved due to the swift action of bystanders.
The girl, age 8 or 9, was noticed at the pool bottom by others at the Howard Johnson Riverside Inn at around 10:30 a.m. They moved swiftly to pull her out and perform CPR. One of those assisting at the scene was a nurse.
The girl was revived and taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where she was reported to be in stable condition. She was later transported to Omaha Children's Hospital.
