A babysitting class today at Grand Island's YWCA helped caretakers ages 10 and up get a "leg up" in their new pursuit.
The class took an academic and hands-on approach to the serious subject of toddler safety. And, when the safety issues are mastered, the students will be out to market those skills...
YWCA staff member Mandy Wehner: "They will actually have a certificate, and our instructor actually -- Amy Kramer -- had them write up a sales pitch and kind of a poster saying, 'Hire me!' She talked about where to hand out flyers saying they're ready to babysit, and kind of recommended where they should do that."
The class was offered in response to community and members requests.
