The State Liquor Control Commission wants your opinion on a proposal to ban drinking games at bars.

After an overwhelming amount of public comment late last week, the Commission decided Wednesday to extend the public comment period until the end of the month.

You may remember, on Sunday we told you the Commission was considering proposing a ban on drinking games and promotions at bars.

Commissioners say they're hoping to curb binge drinking.

Hobert Rupe, Commission Executive Director, says, "We're trying not to be the fun haters or the fun killers, but what we're trying to do is, alcohol is a product that can be used responsibly and safely and we felt that it was being used irresponsibly in some of these promotions."

Commissioners will take up the issue again in February.

If they choose to follow through with the law, they'll pass their recommendation to Governor Heineman who will have the final say.

If approved, the law could go into effect as early as this Summer.
