Officials in Omaha say they're planning to discuss a bill that would limit furlough and good time privileges to violent criminals.
The legislation would require corrections officials to notify police in metropolitan cities when inmates are being furloughed.
Mayor Jim Suttle and other officials will discuss the legislation at a press conference Tuesday.
The bill also would limit good time privileges for inmates convicted of violent crimes, gun crimes and gang related crimes.
Repeat violent offenders also would have limited good time privileges.
The legislation will be introduced by Sen. Burke Harr and Sen. Pete Pirsch.
The unicameral Legislature begins Wednesday.
