Preparations are being finished for the annual Nebraska Children's Groundwater Festival.
The event is scheduled to be held May 8 at Central Community College and College Park campuses in Grand Island.
The event has been held for 24 years. It is designed to give students hands-on opportunities to learn about groundwater and its vulnerability to pollution.
Students from 26 Nebraska cities are expected to attend.
Among the scheduled activities are The Great Earth Magic Show and a presentation about how groundwater influences plants and animals on the Platte River, which runs through much of Nebraska.
The main festival sponsor is the Central Platte Natural Resources District.
