Leaders of Nebraska's golf industry celebrated the third annual Nebraska Golf Day, Friday. But weather kept the group from playing past the first tee.
Reports of lightning near the event which was held at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln led to the cancellation of the game.
The annual event highlights the economic and environmental benefits of golf while encouraging more Nebraskans to hit the links.
Gov. Dave Heineman joined representatives of the Nebraska Golf Course Superintendents Association and many others to discuss how the $260 million industry contributes to the economy and quality of life in Nebraska.
The Championship is expected to have more than a $30 million impact on the Nebraska economy.
