A man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison in a methamphetamine case where a North Platte woman died of an overdose.
The U.S. attorney's office says 36-year-old Brian Devino, formerly of North Platte, was sentenced Thursday for distributing meth that resulted in the death of Stacey Gonzalez in February 2011. She was found dead in her home by a family member.
Prosecutors say Devino and Gonzalez had gone out for drinks and
returned to Gonzalez's house. Devino admitted he provided Gonzalez
with meth before leaving the house.
Officials say the charge carries a mandatory minimum prison
sentence of 20 years because the use of meth resulted in a death.
