A Nebraska woman charged in a crash that killed her 4-year-old son near Lyons in Burt County has pleaded not guilty.
Twenty-four-year-old Megan Douglas, of Oakland, faces nine charges including two felony counts of motor vehicle homicide and child abuse in the Jan. 11 accident on U.S. Highway 77.
Douglas entered her plea on Thursday.
Authorities say Douglas was driving drunk and speeding when she
lost control of her car and collided with another vehicle. Her son,
Zachery, was killed.
Prosecutors had previously dropped seven misdemeanor charges,
but they have since been refiled. Those include driving under the
influence and reckless driving.
Douglas is expected back in court next month.
