Nebraska and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to help veterans and military spouses find jobs.

The Nebraska Department of Labor is hosting a career workshop Tuesday at the National Guard Armory in Lincoln.

The workshop is designed to help current and former servicemen and women translate their military skills into the civilian job market.

The state and U.S. Chamber are sponsoring a "Hiring Our Heroes" job fair on April 24 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln.

Seventy-five employers have registered, representing more than 500 job opportunities.

About 4,800 men and woman serve in the Nebraska Army and Air National Guard.

Gov. Dave Heineman, a former Army Ranger, says veterans have some of the strongest work ethics employers will ever find.
