No serious injuries have been reported from tornadoes and powerful thunderstorms that damaged rural homes and farms in south-central Nebraska.
The National Weather Service says it received several reports of
tornadoes on Monday afternoon. It's unclear how many of the reports
were duplicate sightings of the same twisters.
In York County, tornado damage was reported in the Bradshaw
area. Power lines and trees were downed, and a train was derailed.
In Buffalo County, just west of Elm Creek, pivots were overturned, power lines were downed and trees were damaged.
Damage also was reported in Stromsburg, Fremont, Columbus and
Bennington.
To the east, thunderstorms and heavy rains forced suspension of
play at the College World Series in Omaha.
No damage was reported to levees along the swollen Missouri River.
