Central Nebraska voters in Pleasanton will decide whether to approve a school bond issue worth nearly $9 million next month.
The vote to upgrade Pleasanton's schools will be held on March 12.
School board president Shayne Zwiener says the district wants to make sure the schools remain one of the community's strengths.
The district says its current buildings built in 1936 and 1954 lack air conditioning, have inefficient heat and undersized classrooms.
If approved, the bond issue would levy 33 cents of taxes on every $100 of property tax valuation.
The school district's total tax levy would grow to $1.33 for every $100 of property tax value.
The money would be used to demolish part of the school, build additions and remodel classrooms.
