A Scottsbluff man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of another man.
A Scotts Bluff County jury on Friday found Daniel Morgan guilty of killing Dominic Marquez on May 13. The jury also convicted Morgan of use of weapon to commit a felony.
Defense attorney Jerry Soucie maintained Morgan was acting in self-defense and had no intent to kill Marquez but only confront him about harassment, threats, and assaults by associates of Marquez since he began dating the mother of Marquez's child.
County Attorney Doug Werner said Morgan drove to Marquez's home
with malice, noting he was armed and sent threatening text messages to his girlfriend minutes before the shooting that he was "going after" Marquez.
