For some people the snow means extra money for their business.
So some people spent the majority of the day getting prepared for what they are calling a surge of customers
A blanket of wet heavy snow hits many parts of Nebraska, which is good news for the employees at Tom's Tree Service and Snow Removal in Grand Island.
"It has been so dry in the last few years they are looking forward to doing a little bit of overtime before Christmas," said Employee Shawn Roberts.
They are serious about removing the white stuff.
The crew spent much of the day getting their fleet of equipment ready.
The staff of ten will likely work throughout the night so businesses can open in the morning.
"We go in clear their lots and get them ready to open the next day," said Roberts.
The snow also means extra business for auto body shops in the area.
"With the milder weather we've been a little on the slow side, but what didn't come early is going to come later," said Brian Levander with Levander Auto Body Shop.
Which means this shop will be busy tomorrow their wrecker will also be working over time.
"We've got one in Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings so we'll be busy all over with this storm," said Levander.
Their surge of customers will likely come when people attempt to go to work, but the surge of business has already hit for snow plow companies.
"I have about four pages of customers that we are going to take care of," said Roberts.
